Job done! Servette FCCF claimed a convincing 4–0 victory over FC Thun, with goals from Sobal, Simonsson, and a brace from Marinelli, securing another valuable three points.
Servette returned to the Stade des Trois-Chêne determined to bounce back after last weekend’s disappointing draw at Rapperswil. Following GC’s win the day before, the Genevans were under a bit of pressure to maintain their place at the top of the table. Facing a Thun side still searching for their first points of the season, the Garnets had every opportunity to enjoy a successful Saturday afternoon.
The match got off to a flying start, with a goal after just 75 seconds — courtesy of Magdalena Sobal, her third of the season. From there, Servette completely dominated the encounter. Goalkeeper Enith Salon didn’t have a single save to make, such was the team’s superiority. However, despite their control, Cristian Toro’s players struggled to double the lead before halftime: the woodwork was struck several times, but the net remained untouched.
After the break, Servette shifted into a higher gear. Still dominant, they were now more clinical in front of goal. Therese Simonsson made it 2–0 in the 56th minute, before Gloria Marinelli added a brace (71st and 88th minutes) to give the scoreline a more fitting reflection of the match — 4–0. The outcome could have been sealed much earlier given Servette’s control in every area of play, but the essential was achieved: three points.
With this new victory, Servette FCCF remain top of the table with 19 points from 9 matches, keeping their main rivals at bay.
