FC Zürich Women – Servette FCCF 0–1 (0–0)

Servette continue their fine run with a 1–0 victory at Heerenschürli against Zürich thanks to a goal from Gloria Marinelli!

In excellent form at the start of this season, Servette traveled to Zürich with the firm intention of securing yet another win. Under the Zurich sun, however, they quickly realized it would be no easy task. Still, it was the Genevans who created the first big chance. After a risky intervention from the opposing goalkeeper, Ghoutia—despite being some distance from the empty goal—tried her luck, but her strike was too far off target to open the scoring.

Celebrations were also cut short at the half-hour mark when Simonsson powered a header into the net—only to see the goal ruled out for offside. Just seconds later, Hutchins was forced into another spectacular save to deny what felt like the inevitable.

And inevitable it was. As has so often been the case early this season, persistence paid off. From a perfect cross by Martinez, Marinelli stole in ahead of everyone to score what would prove the only goal of the match—a well-deserved strike just before the hour mark. The Garnet went on to create several more chances, notably through Marinelli (66′) and Sobal (81′). They held firm until the 104th minute, when a Zürich effort struck the post, causing a few nervous moments but no real damage.

Servette return from Zürich with their fourth consecutive win, another clean sheet, and top spot in the provisional standings—pending Sunday’s clash between GC and Basel on September 21!

Everyone at Servette FCCF would also like to send their full support to Vincze Borbala, who was stretchered off in the second half, and wish her a swift recovery.

A few days of rest now await the Garnet before hosting Aarau this Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Trois-Chêne!
