BSC YB Women – Servette FCCF 0–3 (0–0)

What a victory against the Swiss champions! Servette struck three times against YB thanks to a red-hot Therese Simonsson and took over the top spot in the AWSL standings!

Under brilliant sunshine and in front of a large crowd at Breitenrain, the Garnet got the job done in the second half to return from Bern with all three points.

Enterprising from the start, Cristian Toro’s players created several chances in the first half, notably through Simonsson and Marinelli, but without finding the net. The Bernese were not outdone either and also managed to threaten Servette’s defense—though they too failed to score. A goalless draw at halftime seemed fair.

Right after the break, however, Servette immediately made the difference. From a Martinez cross, Simonsson opened the scoring with an unstoppable header. YB were caught cold. From then on, Servette pushed harder, creating more chances and leaving only scraps for the yellow-and-blacks. Despite their dominance, Servette had to wait until the final minutes of the match to seal the deal, scoring twice in quick succession to make it 2–0 and then 3–0—both through Simonsson, who is clearly in dazzling form at the start of this season!

A fine victory for Servette, who move to the top of the AWSL table thanks to a better goal difference than GC. Now it’s time for a short rest before getting back to work to prepare for next Saturday’s big clash against FC Zürich.
