Servette FCCF meets with its history tonight as it welcomes OL Lyonnes for the 1st matchday of the league phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The greatest of competitions makes its grand return to Geneva. The UWCL anthem will ring out tonight at the Stade de Genève for this 1st matchday of the league phase between Servette FCCF and this giant of women’s football: OL Lyonnes. The Servettiennes are now among the greats.
12 finals, 8 titles including 5 consecutive titles between 2016 and 2020, OL Lyonnes presents itself as one of the greatest clubs in the competition, that is certain, but above all one of the natural favourites for the final title in this new edition. For the Grenat, this is their second participation at this stage of the competition (after the group phase of 2021-2022, the previous format of the competition). On paper, the gap is significant. For the Grenat, it will be necessary to look this Lyon team in the eyes, be attentive at every moment and seize all the opportunities that present themselves to them in order, perhaps, to create a resounding upset.
It will also be necessary to enjoy it. Every moment, both before the match and during and after. To enjoy these moments for which this club has fought for so long. If this new adventure begins today, the simple fact of having such a fixture at the Stade de Genève is a great reward for all the players, the staff and the management.
Much more than a match:
As soon as the doors open, find several activities around the stadium: DJ, inflatable arena, activities for young and old and several stands set up on the Esplanade Est.
The World Heart Federation in the spotlight
On the occasion of this match, the World Heart Federation will be in the spotlight with several stands and activities dedicated to cardiovascular prevention, health, sport and well-being. A cup collection will also be organised to raise funds for the association.
After the match: The Legends Match
After the Servette FCCF match, the World Heart Federation association will organise a Legends Match. A friendly and intergenerational moment bringing together, in particular, former players, patients, children and influencers, to highlight a gentle, accessible form of exercise that is ideal for working on cardio while having fun.
Several iconic figures from Servette FC and even GSHC will take part: François Moubandje • Lionel Pizzinat • Sébastien Müller • Kevin Bua • Geoffrey Tréand • Sebahattin Yoksuzoglu • Jean-Charles Dubois • Dave Sutter
