The reigning Swiss champions officially began their season in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, securing their place in the play-offs. Now, it’s time for the Super League!
A new Super League season is about to get underway for Servette, with the Grenat ready to defend the two titles they won last season. For the official return of the AWSL, Servette will face Aarau at the Stade des Trois-Chêne at 4:00 p.m.
While this match marks the official start of the domestic season, the Grenat have already proudly represented Switzerland in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Victorious against Dynamo Minsk (3-0) and Aktobe (4-0), the reigning Swiss champions secured their place in the third qualifying round in impressive fashion. Cristian Toro’s side are dreaming of European football, but first they must overcome a major obstacle in the form of Sparta Prague. The two-legged tie against the Czech champions will take place on August 26 in Prague and September 2 at the Stade de Genève.
But before returning to Europe, Servette will be looking to make the best possible start to their league campaign. Against Aarau, the Grenat will naturally go into the match as favourites, with the Aargau side having suffered a 5-1 defeat to GC in their opening game.
The Servettiennes are counting on your presence and support as they embark on this new journey and look to get off to a flying start!
