A Swiss Cup interlude for the Garnets, who travel this Saturday, October 11, to Wädenswil for the Round of 32 of the competition.
Before their big trip to Zürich on Sunday, October 19 to face GC in a top-of-the-table league clash, the Servette women will focus on the second round of the Swiss Cup this Saturday against Wädenswil, a team currently playing in the Nationalliga B (second division).
Cristian Toro’s players will naturally be the favourites for this encounter. The Zürich side have had a challenging start to the season in the second tier of Swiss women’s football. With only 5 points from 7 matches, Wädenswil currently sit second from bottom in the standings. However, they have shown some signs of improvement in recent weeks, holding Schlieren (2nd) and Oerlikon Polizei (8th) to draws before beating Solothurn (12th) by 4–0.
For Servette, the objective will be to approach the match with their usual focus and respect, just as they did in the first round against Sissach. The Garnets will need to stay alert and not underestimate their opponents, who will be eager to pull off an upset.
Servette will travel to Zürich with the same intention as in the first round: to kill off any hope early on and manage the game from there. Despite the gap between the two sides, nothing will come easy.
After this Cup trip to Zürich, the Servette women will once again head to the Zürich area — this time on Sunday, October 19 at 3 p.m., to face GC at the GC Campus.
